My guitars… are my guinea pigs!
Simon & Patrick SP6 Cedar, my guitar from Québec, satin cedar top, cherry wood back and sides. It was for this guitar that I made my first bridge pins and my first trussrod cover… It has lived, I don’t play it much now but it will be difficult for me to part with it if I have to one day…
Epiphone Les Paul 1960 Tribute Plus, I love its sunburst finish and also its Gibson classic 57 pickups… It has undergone some customizations, boxwood and yew potentiometer knobs, trussrod cover, surround plate and selector knob made of boxwood and also in a “test phase” for more than a year, boxwood action keys!
Gretsch G9201 Honey Dipper resonator, brass body, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard… Welcome to the world of single-cone resonators. For sliding, it’s definitely my favorite! New yew and boxwood biscuit for the nut, the original one being very average… An oak coverplate, made from an old recycled parquet floor, has “demetallized” the sound, less aggressive and so much more beautiful as well! The trussrod cover and deck are made of the same walnut.
